It all started when I fell in love with the original “travelling dress” project: a dress photographed by a group of photographers from all over the world. When you start photography, you don’t dare doing the things you would like to do (“that’s something only big artists can do”). Later you realize that, in fact, you can do everything you want and that’s exactly what art is all about: it gives you freedom.
Twyla Jones, with whom I had the honour to do a mentoring session while in Florida last year, was part of the original group of photographers who launched the project. When I met her, I plucked up my courage to ask her if she thought a group of Spanish photographers could continue the project. She was really enthusiastic about the idea and, since then, several groups of photographers have been created all over the world to participate in the traveling dress project.
Today’s post is the first of the Spanish version of the traveling dress project, in which I have the privilege to count on talented photographers such as Inés (@lespetiteschosesdudimanche), Bea (@camparinagreen), Mirin (@mirinclos), Carla (@carlamonge), Mónica (@momarino) and Olga, (@cerrandoplano).
When you set up a project and share it with other photographers who join the project enthusiastically as soon as you ask them, you realize that a community which may seem superficial really exists. That is the most beautiful side of social media.
Today I would like to show you the photos I took of the dress before I sent it traveling the world. For me it conveys images of freedom, sensuality, voluptuousness, joy, summer and warmth. I immediately thought of my friend Lili (@liligeneva) as the best person to embody them all.
Liliana accepted to follow me on this and we walked the dress to the lake on a beautiful summer evening.
Here’s the result of that magic evening spent photo shooting. I will soon be back with another artist’s session.
