I love flowers. I think you already know. My mum always reminds me that I never watered her plants when I was a child. Now I know for sure that I inherited my love of flowers from her, although I only became aware of it quite late. She’s got the most amazing terrace full of flowers and I can’t even imagine what her garden would look like if she had one.
Sometimes I feel a bit guilty that I don’t spend enough time with Inés cooking or painting. I’ve been thinking a lot about that and my conclusion is that every parent is different. It doesn’t matter what activity you do with your children, as long as you enjoy it as much as they do. The most important thing is to share something with them and, if possible, to pass on your love of the things you like.
At least that’s what I say to myself when I don’t feel like baking a cake and what I try to put into practice with Inés.
I think I managed to pass on my love of flowers to her. Every time she goes for a walk, she comes home with a bunch of wild flowers for me. As you know, we often go to self-service flower fields. The other flower-related activity we enjoy as a family two or three times a year is to go to the garden centre. We buy flowers and vegetables which we plant in our miniature garden (it’s precisely 1 square meter big).
The photos you can see here are from Schilliger, the most famous garden centre in the Geneva region. It’s spectacular and huge, with a wide variety of flowers, plants and fruit trees. It even has a playground for kids!
Every time I go there I end up buying another English rose. The peonies, which give me so much pleasure, were also bought there.
I hope you’ll enjoy the photos and encourage you to visit garden centres in your area. Going there is always a gift for the senses and something different to do as a family.
